CONDITIONS OF  PLAY MEN. 2006

 

1. THE LAWS OF THE GAME

All  Competitions shall be played according to Bowls Australia, Bowls Queensland and Cunningham District Bowls

Association Laws and By Laws (as amended from time to time) and these conditions shall apply, PROVIDED that unless otherwise determined by the Management Committee in relation to a particular event.

 

2. CALLING OF GAMES

All games will be called on a PLAY, SUBSTITUTE or FORFEIT basis and no competitor will be exempted from play due

to the absence of a member..

Player availability should be considered when calling games, particularly Semi-finals and Finals.

 

3. CONTROL OF GAMES

The Games Director shall have full control of all Championship events. Conditions of Play shall be framed by the Match

Committee and approved by the Management Committee and shall not be altered without the approval of the Management Committee. Conditions of Play will be promulgated to all members on Club Notice Boards-

 

4. NUMBER OF ENDS/SHOTS UP.

The Championships, the Number of Ends or Shots up shall be:-

Open Singles Each match to be contested over the Best of five seven up sets.

"A", "B"& Novice Singles 25 shots up ( Shots in excess of 25 shall not count)

Pairs, Mixed Pairs and Handicap Pairs 21 Ends

Triples (3 Bowl) 21 Ends

Fours 25 Ends

 

5. ELIGIBILITY.

A player shall be a financial member of this Club at the time of closing of nominations. Should a player subsequently

become unfinancial during the playing of an event, the player shall immediately forfeit the right to continue in that event.

6. ELIGIBILITY   

Conditions apply to both Men's and Women's Championships

Eligibility for nomination to participate in the Championships shall be:

 

"A" Singles Subject to Condition 5, Open to all Full members and Junior players.

 Pairs

 Triples

 Fours

"B" Singles Open to all Full members and Juniors Players who have not previously won any "A" or "B" Grade Singles  

 Championship at this or any other club.

 

Open Singles Subject to Condition 5, Open to all Full Members and Junior Players of Jindalee Bowls Club Inc.

 

Mixed Pairs Subject to Condition 5, Open to all Full Members and Junior players of Jindalee Bowls Club Inc.

 

Novice Singles Subject to Condition 5.

Open to all members and Junior Players of Jindalee Bowls Club Inc.

(a) who have not won a Singles Championship at this or any other Club, and

(b) who have had less than three years cumulative membership at this or any other Club, (i.e. from the date of joining to

    the date nominations close for this competition), and who shall only be able to compete in a maximum of three Novice

    Singles competitions.

 

Major Minors. Subject to condition 5

Open to all Full Members, Junior Players and approved Social Members. Each team to consist of One Major and One

Minor as handicapped by the  Selectors or 2 Minors may play together with a maximum of 20 handicap. Dress 

regulations are relaxed for approved Social Members only for this competition. Major Handicap 1 - 8 Minor Handicap 9 – 16

 

7. NOMINATIONS.

Nominations shall be called by and close with the Games Director in accordance with advice given on the Notice Board.

Skips in team events will be responsible for the lodgement of nominations for their teams.

 

8. ENTRY FEE

An entry fee of $3.00, or as otherwise determined by the Management Committee, shall apply for all Championships.

This entry fee shall be paid at the time of lodgement of the entry form. Failure to pay such entry fee at the time specified

shall render that team/player nomination invalid.

 

9. SCHEDULING OF GAMES

Games shall be called by notice placed on the Men's NOMINATIONS Section Notice Board as follows:

 

(a) First Round, By giving of two weeks clear notice for the commencement of the competitors first round in all

Championships.

(b) Subsequent Rounds For Singles Competitions, two weeks notice unless by special arrangement, and for :-

     PAIRS Competitions

     TRIPLES Competitions Not less than eight days notice.

     FOURS Competitions

(Note: The requirement shall be satisfied if advice is given up to 6.00 pm on the day notice is required).

10. CALLING OF GAMES

The Games Director may call off a scheduled game. Six days notice shall be given to recall a postponed game except

that if all competitors are present on a subsequent date, then the Games Director may schedule the postponed game

without prior notice.

 

11. GAMES, WHEN PLAYED

Scheduled games may be played on or before the scheduled date and time by mutual agreement between the players and

subject to the approval of the Games Director.

 

12. TEA BREAK

Where competition games are called on a day covering a period where a tea break would normally be taken, then such

tea break will be taken unless otherwise agreed by all competitors of a game.

 

13. SKIP RESPONSIBILITY

Each team skip will be responsible for ensuring that each member of his team is aware of playing dates for the team.

 

14. CAUSE TO RESCHEDULE GAME

Should a member be called to fulfil a Bowls Australia, Bowls Queensland, District playing commitment or Official duty

on thesame day a Club Championship round has been scheduled, the member concerned shall notify the Games Director

as soon as possible. The Games Director will make every effort to re-schedule the Club Championship round and give at

least six days notice of the re-scheduled game.

 

15. VALID REASON TO RESCHEDULE

Championships, tournaments or matches at another Club or District are not a valid reason for a member to request a

re-scheduling of a previously notified Club Championship round. In such cases the provisions of Law 40 (1) (b) of the Laws

of  the Game of bowls in Australia, shall apply and the position of the absent player declared vacant.

16. SUBSTITUTES

Competitors are advised that, except as modified by these conditions, the provisions of the B.A. Laws in relation to

Substitutes  will be strictly enforced.

 

17. FINANCIAL STATUS

In accordance with Condition 5, any substitute or reconstituted player used in a game must have been a financial

member of this Club at the time of close of nominations and have been eligible to enter the competition in their own right.

 

18. SKIP AND SUBSTITUTES

Each team skip will be responsible for submitting the name of any substitute to the designated Umpire of the day and the

Umpire's approval must be obtained before the game commences.

 

19. SUBSTITUTES FOR MAJOR/MINORS

For the Major-Minor competition, a substitute may play in either position, but will only be entitled to the handicap points

of the person being replaced or their own points, whichever is the lower.

 

20. FORFEITS

Where the Games Director has received at least two hours notice before the scheduled starting time that a team or a

competitor (Singles) is unable to attend for any reason, he may inform the opposition team or player that they have

received a forfeit and have no need to attend at the start of play to claim a forfeit.

 

21. FORFEIT TIME

In all other circumstances, a period of thirty minutes shall be allowed after the scheduled starting time of a game before the

Umpire approves any forfeit.

22 ROLL UP AND PRACTICE

 

Roll up and practice is allowed in Championship events in accordance with the Laws of the Game and as modified by these Conditions. Where a Championship game is scheduled for an afternoon and the Greens are available, practice will be allowed

but will cease at 12-00 noon. No practice will be allowed for a morning scheduled game. No practice will be allowed for any

second or subsequent game scheduled on the same day.

 

23. NUMBER OF TRIAL ENDS

A maximum of two trial ends may be taken during the period thirty minutes to five minutes before the scheduled starting

time of a game.

 

24. ATTIRE

Players shall appear in correct dress as set forth in the Laws of the Game. Shorts and approved Club coloured shirts are

permitted.

 

25. INCORRECT ATTIRE

Should any player be incorrectly attired, other than a Social Member exempted to play in a Major-Minors game, then such

player shall not be permitted to play until correctly attired unless the Games Director is of the opinion the extenuating

circumstances exist which prevent the player from being correctly attired.

 

26. SCORECARDS

In a team game, the player recording the scores will, after checking, sign both cards and hand them to the Games Director

or his/her nominee. For Singles Games, the Marker shall ensure that both players sign the completed card before handing

the scorecard to the Games Director or his/her nominee.

 

27. SCOREBOARDS

Scoreboards will be displayed in alphabetical order of the surname of a Singles player or the team skip.

 

28. LIGHTS

If, due to failing light, the Umpire considers the lighting facilities will be necessary to complete a game, OR an appeal has

been made, the Umpire or his/her representative will switch on the lighting for the appropriate green,

 

29. MARKERS.

For Singles competitions, the markers for the first game must be arranged by the competitors. In subsequent rounds the

etiquette of bowls shall apply and one of the previously defeated players is expected to mark the next game. Markers will

adopt the same dress as the players, unless approved otherwise by the Games Director.

 

30. MOBILE PHONES

 

Mobile phones in the "Switched On" position are not permitted on the Green or their surrounds during competition matches

but may be left in the Club during play.

 

31. UMPIRES

The Games Director will inform the Umpire’s Coordinator of the coming scheduled events and requirements for the

Championship events.. Where no accredited Umpire is available, then the Games Director shall appoint a suitably qualified

person to act as Umpire.

 

32. TROPHIES

The Management Committee, at its absolute discretion shall determine any Trophy and/or prize offered for any

Championship event.

 

33. DISPUTES

Any complaints or disputes arising out of playing of Championship events are to be referred to and resolved by the Disputes Committee. (see By Law 17)
